Waste Recycling Sensitisation Program: Alimosho, Lagos

The waste recycling sensitization program conducted in the Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State, Nigeria, targeted marketplaces to raise awareness about proper waste management, recycling practices, and the environmental benefits of reducing waste. Alimosho, Lagos' most populous LGAs with over 1.5 million residents, faces significant waste challenges, including high generation rates and low collection efficiency.

Smart Cities & Urban Energy Demand in Sub-Saharan Africa

West Africa's urban population is exploding, projected to double by 2050, driving energy demand up by an average of 5% annually through 2027. Our fieldwork revealed stark contrasts: bustling markets in Lagos straining outdated grids, while emerging smart projects in Accra show promise for efficient energy use. Key challenges include low electrification rates (around 53% regionally) and reliance on fossil fuels, but opportunities abound in renewables and smart tech. This report includes data visualizations from our analysis and culminates in actionable recommendations to foster sustainable urban growth.
